The 2025 Gundagai Lamb Producer Event brought together our incredible producer network for an afternoon of insights, celebration, connection, and, naturally, the chance to enjoy some outstanding Gundagai Lamb.
We kicked off the event by reflecting on a year of achievements. From growing supply numbers to improved carcase performance and record engagement in our on-farm programs, it was clear just how far Gundagai Lamb has come over the past five years. It was a proud moment to see the results of everyone’s hard work and dedication.
A Year in Review – Livestock
The 2025 season has been a milestone year for Gundagai Lamb, with the program growing while quality improved across the board. An extra 36,000 lambs were processed, a 26% increase on the previous season. Highlights included a jump in lambs grading GLQ5+ from 40% to 50%, meaning half the lambs qualified for the GLQ bonus across the season. Producers and agents are clearly fine-tuning their approach, delivering more lambs into the sweet spot for both quality and price.
GLQ scores have also become more consistent and higher than ever, and while the exact drivers of this improvement are still up for debate, better management, nutrition, genetics, and producer decision-making have all played a role. The 2025 season showed the potential that can be achieved, and while there is no set formula as to how those results were achieved, it also shows that strategic practices can deliver high-quality and high-yielding lambs.
A Year in Review – Sales & Marketing
Our sales and marketing team shared how Gundagai Lamb has continued to grow its footprint in premium domestic and export markets. Brand campaigns have strengthened our position as a leader in quality lamb, while new partnerships and marketing activities have helped raise consumer awareness and demand. We were proud to showcase the positive feedback from chefs and retailers who recognise Gundagai Lamb for its consistency and exceptional eating quality.
In Conversation with Lisa Sharp – Stockyard Beef
A highlight of the day, and a new addition to the Annual Producer Event, was the inspiring conversation with Lisa Sharp, CEO of Stockyard Beef.
Lisa Sharp joined Stockyard Beef in 2021 and was appointed CEO in January 2024. She brings a wealth of experience from leading roles in Herefords Australia and Meat and Livestock Australia, as well as global marketing and innovation positions with Coca-Cola, Kraft Foods, Uncle Tobys, and PZ Cussons.
Lisa shared her insights into building a premium brand, fostering strong supply chain relationships, and staying ahead in a competitive global protein market. Her experience offered valuable lessons on brand storytelling and the power of connecting with customers beyond the plate.
